Interessant: een prehistorische krokodil leek wel wat op een zoogdier. Hij had verschillende typen tanden die leken op die van zoogdieren, een flexibele ruggengraat en was zo klein dat hij waarschijnlijk leefde van insekten. Het laat zien dat er in de tijd van de dinosaurussen meer soorten waren die een grote diversiteit vertoonden, dan alleen de dinosaurussen.
Stekelbaarsjes beschikken over een uitzonderlijk aanpassingsvermogen. Oorspronkelijk waren het zeevissen, maar ze hebben ook zoet water gekoloniseerd. Nu blijkt dat ze zich in slechts drie jaar kunnen aanpassen aan een koudere omgeving! Evolutie in de praktijk!
De ontdekking van de eeuw (als het waar blijkt tenminste): rotsen op Mars lijken op stromatolieten, algafzettingen die als fossiel zijn gevonden uit de tijd voor het meercellige leven op Aarde en ook nu nog (zeldzaam) voorkomen. Als het klopt, is er leven op Mars, of in elk geval geweest...

Op de blog Experimental Theology vond ik viavia een artikel over een belangwekkend vraagstuk, namelijk wat het betekent dat God liefde is, en tegelijk rechtvaardig en heilig. Heeft God een gespleten persoonlijkheid, en wil hij ons wel vergeven, maar kan hij het niet? Is God nog steeds stiekem boos op ons? Als we naar Jezus kijken, blijkt het antwoord 'nee' te zijn: "If Jesus is the Image of God then God doesn't seem overly concerned with his "holiness." God, if Jesus is to be believed, is holy because he loves us. That is what makes God so different, so "set apart." God loves in a way humans cannot. Selflessly." Er is geen conflict tussen de liefde en de rechtvaardigheid van God. De 19e-eeuwse schrijver George MacDonald stelde dat als Gods vuur ons verteert, dat het meest liefdevolle en genadige moet zijn dat we ons kunnen voorstellen. "When evil, which alone is consumable, shall have passed away in his fire from the dwellers in the immovable kingdom, the nature of man shall look the nature of God in the face, and his fear shall then be pure...Yea, the fear of God will cause a man to flee, not from him, but from himself; not from him, but to him, the Father himself..."
