Stephen Hawking beweerde op basis van de string- (of brane-)theorie dat God niet nodig was voor een verklaring van het universum. Een christenwetenschapper en een filosoof beweren dat deze hogere natuurkunde hun bewondering voor de schepper alleen maar laat toenemen. "You may expect an infinitely creative being to create more than one universe—in fact, many, and maybe more kinds of realities.we serve a God who is easily capable of holding 10500 universes in the palm of his hand." Het artikel vertoont overlap met mijn blogbericht van gisteren, maar bevat ook mooie uitspraken over het belang van de 'schoonheid' van een theorie voor wetenschappers: "The more unifying a theory is, the more beautiful the mathematics are, the more likely that it is true. That is a universal concept among scientists. The universe is structured for beauty and elegance."
Henk Medema roept zijn lezers op een nieuwjaarstoespraak te schrijven voor zichzelf: "Most of us are not in a position to present their own New Year’s Speech.
