Volgens blog Experimental Theology hebben veel christenen een theologie (en praktijk) waarin de dood centraal staat. De oorzaak daarvan is de traditionele leer over de hel. "What we need is a way to remove this death-fetish from the Christian faith. To replace a death-centered Christianity with a God-centered Christianity. Christ sets us free from our slavery to our fear of death. Because of Easter Sunday death is no longer the Moral Stopwatch, tick tick ticking away. Easter removes the death-fetish and creates a Christ-centered, rather than death-centered, faith." Prachtig, confronterend, en voor mij behoorlijk overtuigend, al geloof ik nog steeds dat God niemand dwingt zich bij hem thuis te voelen, als hij of zij liever zelf de touwtjes in handen houdt.
